Watching. It's a way of life.

What can one do but watch? The world is falling deeper and deeper into decay, taking many of the ideas we once held dear with it. Where are the morals, the ideals? What happened to manners and discipline and motivation? Why is all I see laziness and arrogance?

When I walk down the halls of my small-town, two-bit school, I see girls kissing girls, guys holding hands. Arguments. Cussing. It's like walking through Hell, constantly surrounded by evil and malisious intent (directly or indirectly). Homosexuality is not something to be proud of or flaunt. Even flat-out atheists understand that sex was meant for procreation, not simply pleasure. Same-sex partnerships don't follow even the simplest rule of nature. Why not fight it out in private? Must I be subjected to harsh words, even if it's not your intention? And profanity: the endless river of sewage that spills from the mouth of an average high-school teen.

Respect is a thing of the past; self-respect is non-existant.

As I watch, I see friends and classmates surrendering to selfishness. Instead of a class, we are 595 different people, each with our own pain that we believe is more important that anyone else's. We are like specks in the ocean: caught up with our own movements and changes, we fail to notice the direction others take.

If you're sick of watching, cry out. Make a movement toward your fellow speck. Watching is nothing but apathy. Move. Push. Care. Love. Fight for the unity we need, not the diversity we crave.

Watch it all go by and you're nothing more than a speck. Determine your direction.
